Dr Clare Ashby

In 2021 Clare undertook The Transformational Coaching Diploma training, a coaching diploma which is only open to doctors. The legacy of this training and insight leads to a unique perspective and approach to consulting. Clare’s consulting can include coaching skills, if appropriate, particularly solution focused techniques, to help assist patients to think resourcefully about their situation and facilitate positive change.

Clare is a member of the British Menopause Society and National Association of Premenstrual Syndromes and has particular interests in PMS, the early perimenopause, PCOS and the role of body identical progesterone for women. However, Clare supports all women, wherever they are on their hormonal journey, from contraceptive queries to suffering with menopausal symptoms.

Clare’s first encounter with Histamine Intolerance (HIT) came through caring for perimenopausal women because of the overlap of symptoms and potential conflict with hormone treatment in HIT. This has since become an evolving interest, moving more widely to Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and latterly the influence of Covid on activating or worsening pre-existing MCAS.

Although NHS trained, Clare has an interest in the Functional Medicine approach; medical practice that considers each patient’s health in context of their genetics and lifestyle factors and the interplay of health and environment.
